It’s one of these times that weather surprises you. You wake up in the morning and you see snowflakes on your window instead of boring raindrops…

From a forecaster’s point of view, conditions seemed to be quite boardering (eg. the temperature at 850 was margianlly at -5 being increased). However, the oclluded front was rotated perfectly over the sentral parts of the UK. The fact that the occluded front selected to move towards central parts left areas of Scotland in the liquid rain zone of the system, while regions from central midlands and further south enjoy a quite sunny weather (for now 10:30 am).
